Anant Gadekar scores winner for Rhema SF against C. Railway (MD)
27th February 2018, Mumbai: On Tuesday afternoon, Rhema Sports Foundation encountered Central Railway (MD) in MDFA Super Division at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. In what was a thrilling contest, a late strike by Anant Gadkekar snatched all three points for Rhema as they defeated Central Railway (MD) 3-2.
Central Railway’s misery continued as they suffered yet another defeat after a poor spell in front of goal for the majority of the game. They did have a good start when it took them only 15 minutes to open the scoring.
Kasif Jamal’s superb positioning rewarded him with a goal as scored his first goal of the season for Central Railway (MD). The Railways could have increased their lead had not for poor finishing. Their defence played well to keep Rhema’s attack at bay in the first-half.
Rhema’s sheer pressure upfront finally paid off in the second-half. Brendon Almeida levelled the score in the 61st minute with a sweet strike but, on the other end, Kaustubh Sardal restored Railway’s lead with a fantastic goal.
But there was a late twist in the tale. Rhema had other plans as the match was headed into the last 15 minutes. Faizan Syed executed a well-rounded move to equalize before Anant Gadeker scored the unlikely winner in the 87th minute to seal the match for Rhema SF.
