KSA back to winning ways after defeating Rayon 4-1
8th March 2018, Mumbai: After a series of poor performance, Karnataka Sports Association (KSA) is back to winning ways after a crunching 4-1 win over Century Rayon in MDFA Elite Division at Mumbai Football Arena (Andheri) on Thursday evening. This was KSA’s third win of the season and they have leapfrogged MS Police to settle their place at the sixth position.
Right from the kick-off, KSA looked determined and hunger to win this encounter. Such was the importance of the game, considering their poor run of form lately. They finally opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Nascimento Santiago broke through Rayon’s defense and scored a fine goal.
A couple of minutes later, Johnson D’Silva doubled KSA’s lead with a sublime finish Rayon’s goalkeeper after a beautiful build-up all the way from the back. Rayon was on the back foot for the majority of the game. They lost the ball possession several times which led to quick counter attacks from KSA.
Experienced midfielder Tarique Ansari made things worse for Rayon in the 26th minute when his low-driven shot comprehensively sailed past the goalkeeper which made it 3-0, in favour of KSA. Rayon immediately pulled a goal back in the very next minute through Niyaz Patil which boosted their confidence for the time being.
But KSA left no stones unturned as they bagged their fourth of the game just ten minutes into the second half through Hasan’s delicate strike. A 4-1 lead gave KSA a breathing space to relax and settle the things down. They slowed down the intensity and kept making sideways passes to frustrate Rayon.
At the final whistle, KSA had something to cheer about. Their first win in quite a time which has surely boosted their morale ahead of the remaining Elite Division games. Meanwhile, Century Rayon must get a positive result in their next game to stay away from the relegation zone.
