Yash and Shunthan gives Kenkre FC their first win of the season
7th March 2018, Mumbai: Two of the top sides who have been struggling this season, Kenkre FC and Central Bank of India (CBI) encountered earlier today in MDFA Elite Division at Cooperage Stadium. Kenkre FC see-off Central Bank of India (CBI) 2-0, courtesy of Yash Mhatre and Shunthan’s second-half goals which gave Kenkre FC their first win of the season.
Central Bank of India (CBI) had come into the match on the back of a deserving 2-0 win over KSA (Karnataka Sports Association) last week. Their side seemed confident enough to defeat Kenkre FC but the lads in yellow had other plans. Both the sides played equally good in the first half, the exchange of passes in the middle of the pitch was nothing but great.
Enough opportunities came pouring in for both the outfits but just like their previous matches, poor finishing left them disappointed. Calvin Barretto, Athang, Vaibhav Karpe and Taha had a good day at the office. They combined pretty well to cause serious problems to CBI’s defense.
Kenkre pressed brilliantly to dispossessed CBI’s midfield several times in the second-half. Their sheer determination finally paid off in the last stages of the match. With CBI’s Nihar Jadhav sent off, Kenkre FC took the numerical advantage and broke the deadlock through substitute Yash Mhatre’s goal in the 81st minute.
The lads in yellow put the game beyond doubt in the stoppage time when Shunthan doubled Kenkre’s lead to seal a memorable win over the Bankers. The players were boosted after the final whistle and who knows if this win turns out to be a curtain raiser for Kenkre.
