Kenkre Champions League: Lions roar their way to the U-8 championship title

Lions were in rampant mood as they lifted the U-8 title in the Kenkre Champions League with a 6-0 thrashing of St. Stanislaus in the final game of the League fixtures.

The U-8 competition was a league format and the Lions came into the last game knowing only a win would guarantee them the championship title.

After a slow start Lions finally set on the march to glory as their star player Agastya Bhat fired them into the lead in the 7th minute. He wasted no time in getting on the score sheet again, when he struck again two minutes later to give young Lions much needed breathing space.

St. Stanislaus faced an uphill battle in the second half to overcome the two goal deficit and things got worse when Ishan Sampath put the game beyond St. Stanislaus’ reach with a fine goal in the 14th minute.

The goal opened the flood gates as Ishan Sampath scored again just a minute later to make it 4-0 in the Lions’ favor. Agastya Bhat completed his hat-trick in the 16th minute with an emphatic finish. But he wasn’t finished then as he put yet another one past the St. Stanislaus’ goalkeeper a minute later. The game ended 6-0 in the Lions favor which took their points tally to 19 points two points above Scottish Strikers.

Scottish Strikers beat One World Royals 3-0 as a brace from Adam Araujo and another goal from Ishaan Mehra made sure the Scottish Strikers finished runners up.

Earlier in the day, RBK Warriors and Bulls played out a goalless draw after which Bulls finished in the 5th place.
