Delhi hold West Bengal to a 2-2 draw

Delhi and West Bengal played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in a Group B fixture at the OFA 7th Battalion in Bhubaneswar, Odisha earlier today.

Neeraj Bhandari and Gaurav Rawat netted Odisha’s goals while both of West Bengal’s goals were scored by their captain Naro Hari Shrestha.

Delhi looked the side with more intent and sharpness in the starting minutes of the game and soon opened the score in the 7th minute of the game. Their captain Neeraj Bhandari headed home a corner kick from Gaurav to give his side the lead.

Delhi had an opportunity to make it 2 in the 29th minute when West Bengal goalkeeper Shubham came out of his area and missed the ball, but Jaideep’s shot went off the target.

Naro-Hari-Shrestha got West Bengal back into the game after just 4 minutes into the second half when he produced a fine header to a corner kick from Dipak.

Naro Hari again scored in the 60th minute to complete West Bengal’s comeback and give them the lead. He tapped in a rebound ball after Surajit’s header rattled the woodwork.

Delhi showed no signs of giving up as they responded with a goal in the 71st minute. Dhruv’s excellent cross was headed home by Gaurav Rawat to bag a point for his side from the game.
