Lalengmawia Ralte set to join Mohun Bagan Super Giant
Lalengmawia Ralte, popularly known as Apuia, is set for a major move in Indian football as Kolkata Giants Mohun Bagan swoop in to secure his talents.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been a standout player for Mumbai City FC, has officially triggered his release clause, allowing him to join Mohun Bagan Super Giant. Despite Mumbai City’s reluctance to release their star player, contractual obligations have facilitated Apuia’s transfer.
Apuia began his professional career with Indian Arrows, where he made 13 appearances and scored one goal. His impressive performances earned him a move to NorthEast United in the Indian Super League (ISL). Over two seasons, he made 32 appearances, netting one goal. Apuia was named the ISL Emerging Player of the Season for 2020-21 and received the FPAI Young Player of the Year award in the same season. In 2021, Apuia joined Mumbai City FC, where he further showcased his talent with 79 appearances and Seven goals in the span of 3 years. He quickly became a regular starter and one of the fan favourites in the side.
Transfer Dynamics
East Bengal had shown a strong interest in signing Apuia, offering a lucrative deal and promising more playing time. However, Mohun Bagan Super Giant emerged as the front runner, successfully securing the midfielder’s signature. This move has sparked significant interest in the transfer market, with Jeakson Singh becoming a hot prospect for big clubs. Mumbai City FC, anticipating the loss of Apuia, is now reportedly targeting Jeakson Singh to fill the void.
Apuia’s move to Mohun Bagan Super Giant marks a significant shift in the Indian football landscape. As he prepares to don the green and maroon jersey, fans and pundits alike will be keen to see how his presence impacts the team’s fortunes in the upcoming season. This transfer also sets the stage for a competitive battle in the transfer market, with several clubs vying to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
